How We Calculate

How Our Window Cleaning Calculator Works

Window Cleaning Calculator is designed to give a more useful estimate than simply asking how many bedrooms a property has.

A bedroom count does not tell us how much glass needs to be cleaned.

Our calculator looks at the actual job.
Free to use · No account needed · Local pricing

Step 1: The glass

Different window types have different values.

Small windows sit at the bottom.

Standard windows create the main base price.

Large windows, bays, Velux windows, sash windows, bifold panels and other detailed glazing increase the job value.

Step 2: The minimum visit price

Every cleaner has costs before the first piece of glass is cleaned.

Travel.

Fuel.

Van costs.

Equipment.

Purified water.

Admin.

Time.

That is why very small jobs normally hit a minimum visit price.

Step 3: Height and access

A normal two-storey house is the baseline.

Three and four-storey work can take longer.

Access can also change the job.

A property with easy front and rear access is different from a property where the cleaner has to carry equipment through the house.

Step 4: Frequency

Four-weekly cleaning is the baseline regular service.

Six, eight and twelve-weekly cleaning gradually increases the price per visit.

One-off work is priced differently because the cleaner may not return to the property again.

Step 5: First clean condition

The calculator gives the first clean its own price.

A first clean starts at a minimum increase over the regular maintenance price.

The increase becomes larger where the windows are neglected.

Step 6: Inside cleaning

Inside windows are calculated separately.

We do not assume inside cleaning should be cheaper than outside cleaning.

The calculator also considers how difficult the internal access is.

Window cleaners can tell us whether they are quick, average or slower at inside cleaning so the suggested quote does not leave them undercharging for their time.

Step 7: Conservatories

Conservatories have their own pricing system.

Side glass.

Outside roofs.

Inside glass.

Inside roofs.

Each section can have a different price.

Step 8: Local pricing

The calculator then adjusts the estimate using the location.

This is based on the local pricing market and, where relevant, the extra cost of working in dense urban areas.

The goal is not to say every house in an expensive postcode must cost a fortune.

The location adjustment is deliberately capped.

The actual glass still matters more.

Real cleaner feedback

Window cleaners using the calculator can tell us what they would actually charge.

We use this feedback to spot places where our model may be too high or too low.

We do not automatically allow one person's answer to change the calculator.

Changes are reviewed before being added to future versions.
